After spending their first months of their life within the herd on vast pastures, they now entered our kindergarden, meaning they are now handled daily and getting used to the work with humans. This enables us to get to know their character, aptitude and willingness to work and helps us to identify their strengths and focus on improvements where needed.
More than half of our crop is already pre-sold, but we have a few gems yet looking for a home after weaning and kindergarden.

Our 2 Haflinger stallions represent 2 branches out of the 7 original and approved bloodlines.
These bloodlines represent the original, pure-bred Haflinger Horse. Our AHR and CHA-licensed stallions have been shown and tested and have proven themselves by producing highly trainable, solid all around horses with exceptional disposition and conformation.
Our broodmares go back to various of the original lines and therefore produce offspring excelling in all different disciplines from driving to recreational riding and the show ring.
Our horses stand out not only as athletic and beautiful, but also because of their great mind.
Our offsprings have successfully been sold all over Canada as recreational partners, sport horses or breeding stock.
We at Bar 2A Ranch Haflingers are proud breeders of the highest quality Haflingers in Canada. We strive to combine the best genetics to achieve outstanding conformation, disposition and performance . It is our goal to ensure our customers are satisfied and achieve their goals with the horses purchased from our ranch!

The specialty of the Haflinger lies, of course, in its unique golden chestnut colouring with a long, flowing white mane and tail. But even more unique is the people-loving, willing and forgiving temperament that was established over centuries of living alongside and working with the mountain peasants, serving all purposes for all family members. Haflingers simply became part of the family.
The modern Haflinger is now found all over the world, active in such varied disciplines as English, Western, Dressage, Jumping, Vaulting, Pleasure and Combined Driving, Trail Riding, Endurance and Draft Hitches. They are frequently used for farm work and in therapeutic riding programs. Haflingers hold their own in competition with other breeds, showing surprising athleticism and strength for their size!
Horse lovers desiring an equine companion that is safe, versatile, dependable and beautiful have discovered the Haflinger. It's intelligence, character, willingness, grace, stamina, athleticism and long life make the Haflinger a wise choice for everyone.
The climate and vegetation of the Chilcotin, with its steep hills and mountains, native and naturally sparse vegetation for pasture, creeks and rivers, sandhills and rock is what the Haflinger is used to and was bred for originally in it's native country of Austria.
Our babies grow up on vast, mountainous pastures within the herd and learn all social skills and natural behaviours no horse should lack. Once weaned, the foals move into our yard, where they are handled daily to ensure every youngster leaving our place is halterbroke, leading, respectful and easy to trailer load. They also learn to be trimmed and will be fully vaccinated.
Besides our Haflinger breeding program, we also operate a full time cattle ranch (Hanceville Cattle Company Ltd.) with a speciality breed cow-calf operation consisting of Belted Galloways, Scottish Highlands and Aberdeen Angus, where we finish our own calves purely on grass and grass-hay before we market them ranch-to-table. For more info, please go to www.hancevillecattleco.com
We take our Haflingers out on the trail, ...some of them steep and rocky, others through overgrown and thick forests and others out on the native and cactus-covered grasslands and valley-tops.
The Haflinger is second-to-none in it's sure-footedness and endurance, not easy to be spooked and reliable at all times!
We use our Haflingers for daily ranch work, be it checking the cows, moving cattle from the home ranch out to the range and pasture and back, or work them in the corrals during round-up and branding.
They remain calm and cool at all times and actually have an amazing cow sense as well!
We are located right on Hwy 20, approximately 1 hour West of Williams Lake.
